A few weeks ago, a client asked me to create a logo for her new Instagram feed called Main Street Pals. Since it’s all about taking children with special needs to Disneyland, she wanted something fun and whimsical.
We brainstormed several ideas.
Brainstorming takes time, but I developed three designs for her to consider. At first, she wanted to combine elements from all three designs, which we did, but it wasn’t quite right. So we went back to the drawing board and came up with a new idea. I showed her the two design options and hands down, this was the one!
I’m quite in love with this logo design. It’s simple and clean, yet expressive, cheerful, and whimsical like she wanted. It suits my client’s personality and the theme of her Instagram feed.
How I Made This Design for Main Street Pals
Main Street Pals started off with hand drawn sketches. Once we had a good grasp on exactly how we wanted the design to look, I scanned the sketch into my computer and played with text placement and fonts. For each step along the way, I sent my client options to choose from. I wanted her to be involved in the process and happy with the end result.
After we settled on text placement and the font, I went back to my sketching pad. I took the drawing and scaled it up to a larger size that would be easier to work with. Then, I busted out my trusty Micron Pens and inked in the drawing.
Lastly, I scanned the inked drawing into CorelDraw, converted it to vector, and added the color.
