Weekly Update (1/5/15): What I’m Reading

I had a wonderful Christmas break!  We took the kids up to Washington DC and saw all the historical sights there.  I’ve never been there before, and much of American history is still new to me (remember, I’m Canadian), so it was fun to go and see everything.  My girls’ favorite thing was when we saw the ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz.  My favorite thing was the Smithsonian museum of art.

Here’s what I’ve been reading.

What I read last week:

This was my first Amish book, and I really liked it! It was such a fun mystery that I kept thinking about it even when I wasn’t reading. BTW, both Murder Simply Brewed and Murder Tightly Knit are on sale for $2.99 on Amazon right now. If you like cozy mysteries, snatch these two up!

What I’m currently reading:

I’m half way through The Witch’s Daughter and it’s pretty good, but also has some dark parts to it. .  My kids are still enjoying The Year of Billy Miller and we are about 2/3rds finished with it.

What I’m Reading Next:

I’m planning on starting The Maze Runner series this week.  If the mood strikes me, I’ll read The Look of Love, but since it is a library book, I don’t feel any pressure to read it.  I haven’t been reading much romance lately.  I go through fazes, and I’m definitely not in a romance faze right now, so I may or may not read it.

Other Books to Read in January:

I have some fantastic middle grade books coming up!  I can’t wait to read Kat, Incorrigible, Famous Phonies and Mister Max.  I’m also looking forward to Red Queen, since there’s been so much buzz about it recently.  I’ve wanted to read For Darkness Shows the Stars and The Fault in Our Stars for a long, long time.  The Secrets of Life and Death is an adult fantasy/mystery that I seem to be so fond of lately.  I received it for review from Random House and I can’t wait to get started on it!

I actually did not realize you were Canadian. I probably would remember all the historical sights either haha. Glad you had such a wonderful time before your kids went off to school.

I've never read an Amish book but I am interested in giving one a try. Murder Tightly Knit's cover looks pretty enticing. I just read possibly my first cozy read the other day and it was pretty great although it could be a bit too dramatic at times.

YES!!! Kat, Incorrigible is AMAZING XD ` Have fun with all your books!
