About the Book:

Veronica doesn’t think she’s going crazy. But why can’t anyone else see
the mysterious blond boy who keeps popping up wherever she goes?

her best friend, Mackenna, invites her to spend the summer in Scotland,
Veronica jumps at the opportunity to leave her complicated life behind
for a few months. But the Scottish countryside holds other plans. Not
only has the imaginary kilted boy followed her to Alloway, she and
Mackenna uncover a strange set of rings and a very unnerving letter from
Mackenna’s great aunt—and when the girls test the instructions Aunt
Gracie left behind, they find themselves transported to a land that
defies explanation.

Doon seems like a real-life fairy tale, complete
with one prince who has eyes for Mackenna and another who looks
suspiciously like the boy from Veronica’s daydreams. But Doon has a dark
underbelly as well. The two girls could have everything they’ve longed
for… or they could end up breaking an enchantment and find themselves
trapped in a world that has become a nightmare.

My Thoughts:

Veronica and Makenna go to Scotland together for the summer and discover
a magical portal into another world. There they both meet the boys of
their (literal) dreams and embark on an adventure to save the kingdom of
Doon from an evil witch.

The book started out strong and I really enjoyed everything until they
got into Doon and the drama started. I didn’t believe Veronica and
Jamie’s love story. Normally insta love doesn’t bother me, but this one
did. I liked Kenna and Duncan’s story better, so I have higher hopes for
the second book in the series.

I liked a lot of things about the book. I liked the friendship that Vee
and Kenna have and they way they work together. I liked the ending and
the way things resolved. I’m very interested in how the next book will
turn out.

Content: Innuendo, kissing, and violence.

I liked this one more than you did, but the drama did bother me. I don't know why it needed to be there. I'm looking forward to the second book. I won a copy so I'm just waiting for it to come.

Aww! That's really too bad. I'm still putting this on my tbr list because it sounds good enough to give it a try. Hopefully you enjoyed the second book (:
Whose Makenna's boy from her literal dreams? I thought Veronica only saw who I'm assuming is Jaime.
