Weekly Update (8/18/14): What I’m Reading Now

I can’t believe how fast this week has gone!  Only one week left to enjoy my kiddos before they head off to school again. My parents are coming to visit me from Canada, so I won’t be doing much reading this week, but here is what happened last week:

What I read last week:

Itch Rocks was fantastic!  I can’t wait to share my review!  Janitors was a typical, yet fun middle grade fantasy, and Storm Siren was almost exactly what I expected it to be.  The Fool and the Dragonox is a short prequel to A Tale of Light and Shadow (see next section) that I’m reading now.

What I’m currently reading:

Technically, I haven’t started Illusions of Fate yet, but I plan to start tonight, so I’m including it here.  I just started A Tale of Light and Shadow and so far, so good.  I’m just a few pages in, so it’s hard to get a good feel for the story yet.  The Young Entrepreneur’s Guide to Starting and Running a Business is more basic than I had expected, but it’s a good book for kids in high school or someone with zero business experience.  You will notice that The Worst Hard Time made it back on to my currently reading section.  I have no more trips planned for the near future, so I finally got it back from the library and started reading again.  I’m about half way through.

What I plan to read next:

I’m looking forward to the next book in the Janitors series.  These other books have all been on my TBR list forever and I’ve designated August (and September) as the month to get them off the list.  There are several other books on the list for this month, so this selection may change based on my mood. 🙂

Giveaways to Enter:

There are just a couple of days left on some of these giveaways, so be sure to swing over and get your entries in!

Pumpkin Time! (picture book)
Play? Yay! (picture book and $10 Amazon gift card)
The Rising Mist (middle grade fantasy)

I can't believe you are reading (soon to be four) books at one time! I'm very bad at keeping books straight. When I dive into one I get confused on where I am when I return to a book. The Young Entrepreneur's book looks like something I could have used in High School. I was in the Entrepreneurship Academy but really didn't know the first thing about it.
The Summer I Found You looks very pretty and sweet. The cover of Will in Scarlet looks interesting. I'm thinking a Robin Hood retelling?

I usually only read two books at a time, but these are all very different so I have no problem keeping them straight. I wish I had found the entrepreneur book in high school too, it would have been really helpful!

I'm really curious about A Tale of Light and Shadow. I've been thinking about getting it for my 10-yr-old son since he needs some more books. Looks like you're getting some great reading in!
