Weekly Update: What I’m Reading Now

Happy Memorial Day!  I hope you’ve had a lovely day, even if it isn’t a holiday for you.  I didn’t get as much reading done this week as I’d like, but I still managed to get some books in.

What I read last week:

I really enjoyed Seven Stories Up and The Avery Shaw Experiment.  Reviews for those will be up in a few weeks.  I have about 20 minutes of reading left in Manor of Secrets so I’m including it in the “finished” pile even though I will finish it after I publish this post.  I’ve enjoyed that book as well.  It’s clean, which is an automatic plus for me.

What I’m currently reading:

As much as I detest saying this—the words are burning my fingers as I type—I am not liking Dangerous.  I am almost feeling guilty about it, too.  I’m half way done and I don’t know if I can finish it.  Getting this far was difficult.  But it’s Shannon Hale!  How is it possible to not like one of her books?  It is what it is, I guess.  I’m putting it on pause until I can make up my mind on whether or not I want to finish it.

What I hope to read this week:

I’m super excited to read Better off Friends.  I’ve heard really good things about it and if all goes well, I will start reading it tonight.  Switched at Birthday is also on my TBR for this week, and I’m definitely looking forward to it.  And, if I get all my required reading done, I plan on reading this:

Or at least part of it.  Non-fiction takes me much longer to read than fiction and I’m a slow reader anyway.  You may find this ironic (I certainly do), that I would hurry to read all my fun fiction books in order to reward myself with a non-fiction about the dust bowl during the Great Depression, but what can I say?  I’m a nerd and I like history.

Have you discovered any new books this week?
