Two Books I Did Not Finish

I finish most books that I pick up. Every now and again, I meet a book that I can’t force myself to keep reading.  The reasons for this may be that I’m not connecting with the writing style, I’m bored, or I find the content objectionable.  When I don’t finish a book, I don’t give it a star rating or write a real review for it.

DNF Book #1: Dancer Daughter Traitor Spy by Elizabeth Kiem

Why I DNF: Unfortunately, this book had too much language (f-words) and not enough to keep me interested. I didn’t get very far, and I don’t plan on picking it back up. I have too many other books to read to spend time on something that I don’t enjoy.

Since I received an ARC, I will most likely give it away.  Either here on the blog or I will re-donate it to ARCycling.

DNF Book #2: Out of Nowhere by Maria Padian

Why I DNF: I was looking forward to this book for quite some time.  I was excited to read it because A) it is told from a guy’s point of view, and B) it’s about sports (soccer), which is different from my usual fare.

Unfortunately, this book had too much language (f-words) for me.  They were all over the place and I didn’t make it even 5% of the way in before I quit.

I would have stopped reading these for the same reason. I can put up with some swearing but F-words particularly get to me and if there's a lot just forget it, I'm done. On the bright side, the cover for Out of Nowhere is lovely!

The cover is gorgeous! I was so disappointed that it had so much language. But F-words are too distracting for me.

I appreciate you're honesty, and your choice to stop reading. Sometimes violence, language, or content is too much, even for those of us who aren't particularly sensitive or conservative. It's nice to see the reviewing community stand up and say "this didnt meet my personal standards." Thanks for that!
