About the Author/Illustrator:

Robertson is an author/illustrator of Children’s Picture Books. His most
recent book is a collaboration with author Julia Dweck, “Pandora’s
Box”. Chris’s other books include “I’ll Trade My Peanut-Butter
Sandwich”, “Little Miss Liberty”, “Kit and Kaboodle”, and “The Tooth
That’s on the Loose!”. Chris’s whimsical cartoon style feels
light-hearted and carefree which seems to perfectly match his humorous
writing style.

in elementary school, Chris was introduced to “Curious George”,
“Madeline”, and “Harry the Dirty Dog” by way of the Bookmobile. The
introduction left such a strong impression, that even at an early age,
Chris knew children’s books were going to be an important part of his

spent 10 years freelancing as an illustrator mainly for magazines and
newspapers. With his cartoon style it only seem natural for him to
venture into the field of animation. He broke in as a storyboard artist
for Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Chris moved up the creative ladder to
become storyboard director. During his tenure at Nickelodeon, he
developed a strong sense of visual storytelling. Learning how to create a
story only in pictures gave him the confidence to create and write his
own children’s books. Chris lives in Pasadena with his wife and three

My Thoughts:

I initially gave this book 4 stars, but the more I read it to my kids
and the more I reflect on it, the more I like it. Any book that can make
you that happy deserves to be given 5 stars! Also, I am slightly
(majorly) biased towards the color yellow. I can’t help it.

I’ve never made it any secret that I adore Chris Robertson’s work. His
illustrations just make me happy. I LOVE the artwork in this book! All
the scenes from my beloved San Francisco in there with the bright colors
and the little girl are enough to make even an elephant feel like

This is a feel good and enjoy your life because the world is a beautiful place kind of book.

    Haha (: I'm more partial to blue but yellow is okay (;
You featured this illustrator didn't you? His artwork looks familiar.
Sounds like it was a book filled with imagination and that the illustrations really drove the story. I like that about some children's books.

I agree about the illustrations, they are simple but they just work so well with children's books, I love them so much. I remember reading a book of his and loving the illustrations as well.
