My Review:
I picked this book up because I thought that my kids would enjoy it.  They are in the target age group and they both like monsters.

The counting is fun, and the illustrations are entertaining.  I wish that some of the objects used for counting were more monster related.  Some of the pages have things like bug cookies and slime covered yo-yos.  But other pages have some not so monsterly items that are less fun to count.

The illustrations are super cute for the most part.  They are computer generated and have bright colors to entertain and engage children.  As an artist, I did notice some details that were overlooked. They were all little things, but they still irked me.  However, I did appreciate the use of bright flat color and simple shapes.

Who doesn't like monsters? I remember reading Monster Pizza (I'm not sure if it's exactly called that) when I was a kid. A lot of wording for small kids but it was a story I remember well. I think I still have it (:
    Hmm… what details? Shadowing?

I actually enjoyed the fact that there wasn't much shadowing. I was talking about things like the monster's fingers not wrapping around an object it was supposed to be holding and transparencies that should have been gradients. You know, things that wouldn't irritate a normal person 🙂
