Feed My Reader Friday #3

I absolutely love getting new books.  I plan on reading every single one of them, but I am fully aware that I download many more than I read.  My Kindle is loaded to the brim, but I every time I see a new book that interests me, it gets downloaded.

Here are some of the awesome books that I downloaded this week:

Third Grade Mix-Up (Sidney & Sydney)
When Sidney Fletcher moves to Oak Grove, things get a little strange for Sydney Greene. Not only does Sydney share a name with a boy, but he’s in her third-grade class! First-day-of-school drama has them at odds, but Sidney and Sydney soon find out that they share more than just their names. Can boys and girls actually be friends?!

Goodnight Baseball (Capstone Young Readers) (Capstone Young Readers)
From the arrival at the stadium to the last goodnight, Goodnight Baseball is a sweet, nostalgic tale– told in gentle, funny rhyme– about the thrill of the game and a day at the ballpark.

Fashion Drawing Studio: A Guide to Sketching Stylish Fashions (Capstone Young Readers: Drawing Fun Fashions)
Featuring step-by-step sketches and easy-to-follow illustrations, this bind-up gives kids a look into fashion-forward clothing trends including Rock Star, Girly Girl, Glamour, Harajuku, American Girl, and Skater Chic. Tips, techniques, and the perfect outfit accessories round this book out for the future fashion designer.

Lester’s Dreadful Sweaters
A fastidious fellow, Lester likes everything just so. So when Cousin Clara moves in and knits him truly dreadful sweaters as fast as he can surreptitiously dispose of them, Lester must think of a way to get rid of them for good — or be doomed to look like a clown forever.

Strands of Bronze and Gold
Seventeen-year-old Sophia Petheram has been sheltered by her doting family all her life, until the day her father dies. It’s 1855, and with no money and few options, she goes to live with her guardian, the mysterious Bernard de Cressac, at the astonishingly lavish Wyndriven Abbey in Mississippi.

Sophie has always longed for a comfortable life, and she finds herself both attracted to and shocked by the charm and easy manners of her overgenerous guardian. But as she begins to piece together the mystery of his past, it’s as if thread by thread, a silken net is woven around her. And when she begins glimpsing the ghosts of his former wives (all with hair as red as her own) in the forgotten corners and dark hallways of the Abbey, Sophie knows she’s in de Cressac’s trap.

With enchanting romance, chilling suspense, and dashes of the supernatural,Strands of Bronze and Gold is a compulsively readable debut.
Obsidian (A Lux Novel)
When seventeen-year-old Katy Swartz moved to West Virginia right before her senior year, she’d pretty much resigned herself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring, but then she spotted her hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up…until he opened his mouth. Daemon Black is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. It’s hate at first sight, but when a stranger attacks her and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens. The hot guy next door? Well, he’s an alien. Turns out that Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities and Katy is caught in the crosshairs. Daemon’s touch has lit her up like the Vegas Strip and the only way she’s getting out of this alive is by sticking close to him until her alien mojo fades. That is if she doesn’t kill him first.
Jack Templar Monster Hunter: The Templar Chronicles: Book One
If you’re not a monster hunter, don’t read this book!

this book is not meant for you. By reading it, you run the risk of
attracting monsters to your position and being attacked. So, unless you
are willing to join the fight…just walk away.

Still here? OK, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Let me introduce myself. I’m Jack Templar and I’m an orphan.

I discovered that I came from a long line of monster hunters. You know,
vampires, werewolves, zombies, you name it. Turns out there was some
kind of truce between monsters and the hunters that kids under fourteen
were off-limits. I didn’t find out about all this until the day before
my birthday. Yeah, you guessed it, my fourteenth birthday. So, all bets
were off. The monsters were coming to get me.

Not only that, but I
also found out that if monsters around the world could choose one human
to kill, it would be me. Why? I haven’t a clue, but the hunters I’ve
met talk about a prophecy and that they think I’m the One…whatever
that means. I’d like to find out some day, but for right now, I’m just
trying to stay alive.

If you want to hear a story that will
scare you, gross you out and forever change the way you look at the
world around you, then you came to the right place.

But, if you
want to keep the illusion that the world is a safe and orderly place,
then get out of here and stop wasting my time.

Do your duty, come what may.
