Picture Book Review: Bear Says Thanks, by

What better way for Bear to say thanks, than to have a big dinner with all his friends!Bear
has come up with the perfect way to say thanks—a nice big dinner! When
Bear decides to throw a feast, his friends show up one by one with
different platters of delicious food to share. There’s just one problem:
Bear’s cupboards are bare! What is he to do?
Karma Wilson’s
playful text and Jane Chapman’s charming illustrations bring to life
this celebration of family and friendship. Young readers will delight in
discovering the special gift Bear has to share.

Written in rhyming prose, Bear Says Thanks is a delightful read out loud book for the holiday season.  Bear is worried that he has nothing to share with his friends, but then he learns that being a friend is about just being yourself and giving whatever you have to offer.

I am a big fan of Karma Wilson’s writing.  Her prose and rhyming are flawless, making the book fun and easy to read.  Jane Chapman’s illustrations are warm and charming.  She creates a beautiful atmosphere that makes me want to turn into a furry little critter so that I can join in the feast.
