Book Review: Pumpkin Eye, by Denise Fleming

A Halloween story with just the right amount of spookiness for preschoolers

It’s Halloween night! The rising moon lights the way for
trick-or-treaters and sets the mood for a spooky celebration where
imagination rules.

Award-winning author/artist Denise Fleming turns her talents to every child’s favorite holiday.

The perfect read aloud book for Halloween!  My daughter is obsessed with Halloween and pumpkins, so she picked this one out.  We must have read it two dozen times or more in the past week.

Pumpkin Eye written in simple, rhyming prose.  It doesn’t so much tell story as it does give you a feel for the Halloween spirit.  It is a lot of fun to read to a group of kids.

The illustrations are awesome.  They are big, bright, and colorful.  I love it when I find an author than also successfully illustrate their own books.

Ah, Halloween picture books. Whenever it's getting close to October 31st I make sure to look at the new Halloween picture books because they are always the best.
Do you get bored when your child asks you to read a book countless of times?

    Only if it's a book that I don't like 🙂

If I like the book, then I don't mind reading it several times. I have made sure to accumulate a lot of picture books so that we can switch it up.
