Weekly Update (2/9/15): What I’m Reading Now

Uncategorized

I’ve had another busy week, but I did manage to get a couple of short books finished. This upcoming week is going to be crazy!  I have about four thousand parties to plan and carry out.  I’m not one of those super crafty moms, either.  You know the ones you see on Facebook and Pinterest with the perfect house, perfect pictures, and perfect decorations?  Yeah, SO not me.  I’m more of a barely-survive-the-day kind of mom.

Here’s what I’ve been reading.

What I read last week:

I finished reading Princess in Disguise to my girls.  It was such a cute book!  I will have to back track and read the rest of the series to them now.  I also read Flunked, which was also really fun.  The mood for a romance hit me pretty hard this week, so I read Finding His Way Home and it was very, very sweet.

DNF:

The Secrets of Life and Death was very good, but very dark and too morbid for my tastes.  For the sake of my ability to sleep at night, I had to call it quits.

What I’m currently reading:

I’ve made zero progress on Famous Phonies.  I like the book, but like I mentioned last week, I have to read it on my iPad, and I don’t like reading on my iPad.  It gives me a headache and makes my eyes go wonky.  The Lightning Thief is a reread for me.  I read this series about four years ago, before I started blogging, but it’s such a good series!  Rick Riordan has to be one of my favorite authors of all time.

What I’m reading next:

I can’t wait to read all these books.  I’m especially looking forward to the two Princess Academy books from Shannon Hale.  I love her work.  Especially her middle grade books.  I’m also SUPER excited to read Catch You Later, Traiter by Avi.  I love his work and I’m really looking forward to this one.

I really like E.D.Baker, but this newest one had too much wedding stuff. I think I may cut the series short and not buy this one. Question of Magic (with Baba Yaga) is still my favorite.

It did have a lot of wedding stuff! I admit that I wasn't fond of that, but my kids didn't seem to mind it. I agree that Question of Magic was excellent. One of my favorites, too.
