Synopsis:

Camp ABC shows a variety of ways to have fun outdoors while camping.
Whether pitching a tent in the middle of a forest or enjoying a
full-service RV resort bordering a beach, camping activities will
satisfy any child’s curiosity. The book is presented in an alphabet
format. Simple rhymes and full-page illustrations suggest fun and
adventurous activities, from bird watching to hiking and fishing to
kayaking. Parents and grandparents can use this colorfully illustrated
book to encourage a child’s interest in all aspects of nature, including
the importance of conserving natural habitats. Here are the first
twenty-six ways to have fun camping. After those, the children will find
or invent their own. Picture book; ages 0-6.

About the Author and Illustrator:

Zora and David Aiken have collaborated on ten books, including six for
children. Zora was a contributing editor for three boating publications,
and she is a book editor. Camp ABC is the twelfth children’s book David
has illustrated. An accomplished watercolorist, he is a signature
member of the American Society of Marine Artists.

My Thoughts:

I always love picture books that teach either the alphabet or numbers. I
enjoyed the camping setting for this book and all the camping
references and activities.  This book made my kids really excited to go
camping!

My only criticism is that with some of the letters, it was hard for my
children to identify which words were supposed to support the featured
letter. The text is written as a poem, and not all the letters were very obvious.  Other than that, I loved it!  The artwork is gorgeous!

A book about camping would be a hit around here. Lately, we have been talking a lot about it and drawing pictures of things that happen when we go camping with my 2 year old.
